Description
A short adit (perhaps 300 yards) heading straight into the mountainside with a recess after around 200 yards on the left.
This mine is flooded to ankle depth initially but becomes shallower as progress is made.
There are no features or decorations and the adit becomes blind.
Note : Further along the footpath (several hundred yards) there is a small stream which crosses the footpath and runs into the river. This small stream is heavily impregnated with ochre and appears to be coming out of the hillside to the right – suggestive of a mine entrance. There is a new mini-gauge railway here and it is probable the entrance was collapsed to sure up the footings for the line.
On the opposite bank, directly facing, there is another ochre stream running into the river and it is likely there is an adit there too but I could not cross the river to discover it.
