Les,
Thank you (as always) for your clarity......
I would add ......

BCA Membership cards
The cards are, in any event,
GREEN and are a representation of the fact that the named holder is insured with and through the BCA insurance scheme. To correctly identify the cards as "BCA memberships cards" could cause to confound the celebrial cortex of some members who may then question whether or not they actually have the benefit of insurance. I therefore considered it better to use simple, if not entirely accurate, language that would be interpretted without the necessity of a further explanation

The BCA secretary
Is actually the membership administrator. The secretary is somebody else.
The internal workings of the BCA are somewhat of a mystery to us "outsiders". It does appear that there have been
some changes in recent recent years with
some of the offices being split between different people. I have no doubt the various duties are onerous and I commend everyone for their time and effort. However, the matter of who does what remains an enigma in some cases

but this is the time of year when ALL clubs are renewing and I doubt that even the BCA have a big enough magic wand to handle them all at once.
I would like to think that you will be pleasantly surprised. I believe the turnaround times are actually very quick.
Of course to speed things up you could always send for them in December. Assuming you know who will be renewing in UCET of course.
I have been pleasantly surprised the whole time I have been secretary for the club and the turnaround has always been fast. However, I am equally sure many clubs leave their renewal to the last minute (like us) and this is bound to create a pressure on the "Membership administrator" somewhat akin to a nuclear battleship being dumped on his doorstep. I regret that our own members have been somewhat dilatory in coming forward with their subs and an earlier submission to the BCA has been impossible.
The matter of who was going to remain a member in the following year has been more problematical than understanding Hawking radiation (which he now concedes is not random). The "random" element of our club membership, however, requires a crystal ball (which we do have) but it is somewhat fogged with confusion.
When the BCA "membership administrator" has finished with his magic wand, perhaps you could cadge it for us for a short while ?
