| This weeks trip is to the Spar Mine at Hendre. The Spar mine is full of mystery, intrigue and adventure ... an underground warren of passages steeped in history and echoes of the past. A fabulous opportunity to bring along a friend (or two) who you might think would enjoy “caving” and introduce them to the compelling draw of the underworld and it’s hidden crystals and mineral formations. Visit the depths of the mine and experience the pseudo blue waters which lay silent under our feet. Why not bring a camera and take the opportunity to try out new style shots of long exposure or even artistic flash shots. If that were not enough, a rigging session to extend the current rigging arrangements is being undertaken, yet another fantastic opportunity to get involved with one of the more technical aspects of underground exploration. Meet time is 6:45pm at the Royal Oak (Can someone ask the landlord for permission to use his car park upon arrival please). See you there ..... Ian PS. no chatter about particle or temporal physics on this thread please as the forum admins might wield the axe (again)

| It will only cost you "time", which, we have already established is "relative". Thusly, there can be no definitive answer to your question Joel | |

Because I could - sorry Marty (It was a thread for an event that had been and gone. Should this witty banter not be reserved for the "Written" Forum, after all we are a very serious Caving club )

Ian Hi Ian Thanks for the invite but I can,t make it (half term and all that) However On Tues we did go down Hendre. The lady in the pub asked me who the group was that where there at the weekend (I forget if she said Sat or Sun) as they parked up the back lane behind the pub. She was concerned that they where almost blocking the lane and apart from that, getting changed in full view. I did tell her that I doubted it would be the local lads as they always ask and then park in the pub car park. I promised her I would chase it up. She was NOT really complaining but was actually quite concerned that the cars mat get damaged and the other locals might be a bit dischuffed at the changing antics. She is quite happy to allow parking in the pub car park (down at the bottom end) but call her first. If no answer leave a note in the windscreen of the car. I'm sure all UCET members know this but maybe they could pass on the info should they know cavers out of the area.

| Hi Frank, Thanks for that info and you are quite right, we always use the pub car park and we also ask first (have been doing for ages and ages). I have no clue who was there at the weekend but presume it was some peeps who perhaps don't come very often and don't know they can use the car park ? Ian | |
