I had a peep into "King Arthur's Labyrinth" in Corris today - t'was a little bit of fun. Obviously as a paying visitor to a visitor attraction we saw virtually nothing of the mine and the guide told us how the tunnels were a labyrinth of cave passages that King Arthur used (a little odd for a slate mine that would not have existed in his time).

Interesting photography was BANNED (no real surprise there). I asked why (expecting the answer to be that they wanted me to buy their souvenior booklet) and was told that it was "Health & Safety".

Obviously I was belwildered and ask "why?"

And was told ....seriously ..... "because there may be an epliptic in the party".

..... The same mine also advertises that dogs are not allowed unless they are guide dogs.

Seriously now, WTF ?

Back on subject .... I persuaded them to let me take a photo without a flash (which confused them but this confusion resulted in a bemused "ok") and I managed 1 semi-decent shot;

Although the picture is EXACTLY what I was looking at and EXACTLY what the camera saw and there have been NO ADJUSTMENTS WHATSOEVER, it is somewhat difficult to work out what you are looking at.

There is a clue in the basic facts I have already provided;

1) It is a mine
2) It is a visitor centre
3) There is no flash used by the camera
4) There is a somewhat imaginative story told by the guide in the "Labyrinth"

I think the rest is a product of your eyesight and elementry.

You are looking at a hideous lit mound of rocks, with bits of sticks planted to represent the trees that we know grow down all mines, possibly a laser projected sky which had been medically proven not to cause epileptic fits in all but the most hardened caver.

Not being rude Ian but was it really worth the hassle of actually taking this picture, personally I think you would have been better off buying a post card from the shop for your scrapbook! Twisted Evil

John.

Be as rude as you like John .... the picture is utter tosh. Until I got down there I had no way to know what to expect (well, I did, I was expecting to see a nicely lit underground lake).

After I realised there were no "proper" photographs to take, I amused myself with exposure (your book remember?)

.... You aren't too far off the mark with your answer though Shocked but far enough to be wrong .....

Mwhahahahahaaaaa Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

And.... give the time available to set up before everyone fooked off, this was the best I could do with the lake ....

Pretty crap then? Always wondered what it was all about and didn't think Arthur was from that area anyway. Did you know that one of the proposed sites of Avalon is actually Caerfallwch (ie,Rhosesmor!) I kid you not...according to local Arthurian scholars...
