Location
SJ 198 606

Directions
Park at Maeshafn heading just down the hill past the pub by the entrance to the woodland. The cave is in there just off one of the track (it’s a little tricky and a O/S map will help as it is marked).

Access
Ungated and permission requirement unknown

Suggested Equipment
None.

Length
Around 300 yards

Flood risk
None Known but a mined passage at the bottom sumps.

Cave Attributes
Phreatic cave with evidence of mining

Description
A tall and not very wide natural cave which winds itself steadily downwards for around 200 yards until it comes to a chamber where the passageway forks. At this fork is a small chamber. The right fork is a mined passageway (possibly an enlargement of a natural cave) but is only a “hands and knees” passage. After around 100 yards you come to water which appears to rise and fall with the water table. The mined passage continues and so it is supposed that in dryer weather you could travel further.

The left fork from the chamber takes you to some tight crawling with more evidence of mining.

Unexplored Passages
The left passage is not yet properly explored.

The right passage is not properly explored in dry weather.

Digs
None Known
